Enjoy a late night at City Gallery Wellington with Tuatara Open Late. The Gallery comes alive with art, music, film, talks with beer, wine, and food to keep you going. Take the time to explore our exhibitions with galleries open until 10pm and experience the changing programme of late-night events.

This month, join us as we explore and celebrate the Gallery’s ground floor exhibition of Glen Hayward: Wish You Were Here in its final days.

At 6pm, film scholar Russ Kale invites you to 'Enter the Matrix', as he takes us for an extended looks at Glen Hayward’s 'I don’t want you to worry about me, I have met some Beautiful People', decoding the layered connections the sculpture has with it's source in The Matrix. At 7pm, local poets respond to Wish You Were Here, capturing the forms, stories and ideas of Glen Hayward's sculptures in words. To end the evening, exhibiting artist Glen Hayward, joins us all the way from Whanganui for a conversation with author and regular book club convenor Pip Adam. Take a seat and join the conversation as we read our way into the themes and ideas in Glen Hayward’s Wish You Were Here. It’ll be a chance to get to know what’s on Glen’s own bookshelves, his literary influences, and to hear the stories behind his artworks.

Throughout the evening, see the exhibition through fresh eyes by borrowing a polaroid camera to capture a moment of everyday mysticism.

As always, our bar and galleries open at 5pm. There will be Tuatara beers, Seresin Estate wine, supper treats and sounds from RadioActive.
