Award winning and critically acclaimed comedian Jonathan Falconer is performing an hour of standup comedy about how diplomas are overrated and being smart is stupid.
Jonathan may be the world’s dumbest doctor. After all, would a smart person move from the U.S. to New Zealand to hit it big? Or get a doctorate in pharmaceutical chemistry to advance their comedy career? Probably not, but thankfully laughter is the best medicine (after a Pfizer shot), and Jonathan’s a first rate comic with a bright smile and wit sharper than his medical grade scalpel. Combining the overconfidence of any good doctor with the humility of a self-proclaimed idiot, Jonathan’s comedy explores the flaws that arise from being human, from someone who understands the concept inside and out.
Since 2013, Jonathan’s been featured on shows all across the U.S., New Zealand, Germany, and Australia, and has recently performed alongside some of New Zealand's biggest comedy icons, including Ben Hurley and Urzila Carlson. He has performed at the Idaho Laugh Fest, Golden Spike Comedy Festival, and the Dunedin Fringe Festival; featured on Radio New Zealand; won the 2020 Mount Maunganui Comedy Competition; Best Comedian at the Dunedin Comedy Awards in 2021. He also hosts a wildly unpopular Youtube show about drugs called the Science of Getting High.
