POETRY IS THE MOST FUN ONE CAN HAVE WITH WORDS AND WRITING.
It is playful, silly, musical, profound.
Poetry can be an expansive epic or a tiny jewel.
A furious outpouring or a quiet note.
Poetry can sometimes be intimidating for those of us trained to use words for information sharing only: essays, reports, news, history, etc...
This workshop will offer keys to loosen up and enjoy words as painting, music, chaos, absurdity, fun. We will read aloud to each other and explore voice, pace, tempo. We will check in with poets past and present to discover examples of poetic form and conduct some experiments.
We will pick things apart.
We will let things just be.
By the week's end, participants will have a small portfolio of their own original poems that have been workshopped by their peers.
