Sharad Purnima or Kojagiri Paurnima is a religious festival celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin, marking the end of the monsoon season. The full moon night is celebrated in different ways in various cultural regions across South Asia. To mark the occasion, MigHT-i is glad to bring to Auckland one of the leading names in Indian Classical Music - Aparna Tai Gurav, her melodious voice reflects the eternal essence of Hindustani Classical Music as handed down in the true "Guru Shishya Parampara". Endowed with a voice that is at once rich and vibrant, Aparna has carved for herself a place in the divine world of music and has captured the hearts of the listeners. Inspired by her parents at a tender age of ten, Aparna learnt the fundamentals of Classical music under the able tutelage of Dr.Sudha Patwardhan for fifteen years. Discovering the immense potential of young Aparna, Dr Patwardhan gently evolved and moulded her into the world of Hindustani classical music, culminating in Aparna achieving the coveted degree of "Sangeet Alankar" from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Dr.Veena Sahasrabuddhe, a renowned artist, further honed the talents of Aparna.

Veena Tai, with her diligent pursuit for perfection, imparted to Aparna, the subtle knowledge of communicating to the audience through music and instilled confidence in her. Aparna has accompanied her Guru on various occasions. Along with her we are blessed to have Hemant Pendse, one of the leading vocalists in the realm of Hindustani classical music. After receiving his initial training from late Shri Manohar Betavadkar, he had the privilege of learning under none other than the great Guru, composer and musician late Padmashri Pt. Jeetendra Abhisheki for a considerably long period of twenty years. Trained in the Gurukul system of learning, he imbibed the essence of the Jaipur-Agra gayaki from Panditji. He has been equally fortunate to have in-depth guidance from the doyen of Agra Gharana late Pt. Babanrao Haldankar. Currently, he is seeking guidance from Pt.Vikas Kashalkar of the Kirana-Gwalior tradition.

Accompanying them on harmonium is Pramod Marathe, a renowned artist in his own right and a vocalist too. And Milind Gurav on Tabla.

This quartet promises a memorable KOJAGIRI on behalf of MigHTi.
