For months, our amazing (volunteer) nursery manager has grown and tended to approximately 3,000 native spinifex plants which are going to planted in the Foxton Beach Dune garden. We were able to do this work through the Horizons Regional Council Pūtea Hapori Urupare Āhaurangi Community Climate Response Fund and the time has finally come when they are ready to be planted!
Bring a spade and gloves as Spinifex is a rather sharp edged plant. The poster shows two site as the wind will decide where we plant.
A sausage sizzle at the end is being provided by Horowhenua District Council as this 'Dune Garden' area is part of the Ramsar site managed by DoC, HRC and HDC along with environmental groups such as us, being Wildlife Foxton Trust and Manawatū Estuary Trust.
