Come along and watch expert drivers, directed by highly skilled navigators as they attempt to maneuver half ton boats with excess of 1500 horsepower at insane speeds a certain sequence around the track, right in front of you. These machines are capable of accelerating from stationary to 140 k’s per hour in less than two seconds, pulling six g-forces on 180-degree corners, and all without brakes!
With margins smaller than a 100th of a second and over 20 corners to navigate at breakneck speed, one wrong turn or a signal a fraction late or early could be the difference between winning or losing, or worse yet, ending up high and dry on the bank. This high-pressured situation combined with the added addition of being the final round of the NZ series all add up to a day that will have you on your edge of your seat with excitement.
The day’s action starts at 9am and is non-stop until 4.30 - 5pm, starting with qualifying rounds to separate the triers from the fliers. from there, five elimination rounds whittle the top teams down to the final nine, six and three, who will put it all on the line in their attempt to take out the ultimate podium positions.
This is the final of the 2023 NZ Championship, and the only round held in the South Island.
