Lake South takes the best of the Aotearoa New Zealand songwriting tradition and enfuses it with raw emotion and eletronics. It's like if Don McGlashan went through some s#*t and then bought a synth. He released his debut album 'If You're Born On An Island the Ocean Heals You' in 2017 and the follow-up, 'Wellington | Te Upoko O Te Ika', in late 2019. Both records have been critically acclaimed with Graham Reid calling Lake an "electro-folk postcard poet of his doubting generation". His 3rd album 'The Light You Throw' is a record full of hope, joy and defiance. Expertly crafted odes to friends, the cities they live in, and the futures they strive for.
Welcomer
Despite being a relatively new project, Welcomer has already garnered a reputation for poignant live shows. The 5-piece, centred around main songwriter Miles Sutton, write wry and misty pop songs.
