The 3 December show is our finale for 2023. This is where we reprise 4 of our standout performers for the year. Our featured performers will be LOST BiRD, Beans Maries, Bill Hickman and Millie Moon.
Lost Bird - LOST BiRD is the musical pseudonym of singer-songwriter Ali Whitton. Compared to Bright Eyes, Tallest Man on Earth, or Richard Thompson, Ali's songs of struggle, hope, rootlessness and giving over to abandon will charm you, unsettle you a bit, and make you laugh at your own shared humanity.
Beans Maries - Beans blends gentle indie folk sounds with a unique lyrical style - their original songs are rich with humour, honesty and carefully crafted wordplay, borne of a love of language combined with a vibrant imagination. Beans was the smash hit of the 2023 Wellington Folk Festival.
Bill Hickman - Bill Hickman is an intense, lyrical singer/songwriter and a long serving stalwart of New Zealand stages, Bill has played in bands (The Shot Band, Billy Bones, Parcel of Rogues and King Lazy) and as a soloist. A self-described ‘folkie with a chip on his shoulder’ Bill’s songs run the gamut from murder and outlaws to absent friends, love and gratitude. His solo album. 'Crossbones' was released in May 2019, and became a Wellington classic.
Milly Moon - A captivating performer, Milly Moon’s award winning vocals and her embrace of story and poetry, woven into raw and intimate performance, is magnetic. As a solo act, Moon presents deeply connected, darkly explosive and joyously unadorned song and story. Lean in. During 2023 Millie has performed at the Wellington, Melbourne and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals
