This is the first of our quarterly educational workshop series for 2023. Designed to empower our community to prolong the life cycle of their clothing by teaching core skills for mending and upcycling. Each event includes throughout the series will include hands-on tutorials on mending and upcycling techniques, a drink and nibbles, a guest speaker, and a digital take home pack.
Dove Hospice & Wellness are a local Auckland not-for-profit Hospice specialising in care that enhances holistic well-being from the time of diagnosis of a life-threatening illness. All funds raised from this event will help fund the specialist hospice and wellness services we make available at no charge from our Glendowie-based facilities, Dove House, and Dove Wing. In partnership with Fashion Revolution New Zealand and sponsored by The Fabric Store, Part One of the series will include a workshop on the core hand-sewing stitches and how to mend a seam, sew a button, darn a sock, patch a hole, and cover a stain with embroidery.
Each ticket Includes sewing tutorials, guest speaker Amanda Butterworth; Fashion Revolution’s Country Coordinator, a digital take home beginners guide, a Drink and Nibbles, and 20% discount voucher to spend at The Fabric Store.
