Tibetan Language is a structured language with rules that are generally not broken, with logical and depth behind the construct of the words and their meaning.
Learning to read Tibetan characters will help self-learning, and this programme is designed to help you become versed at a beginner's level of reading, pronouncing and the basic grammar / sentence structure.
Both common words and dharma words will be studied in this programme.
The programme is twelve weeks long and we have two options for classes, with a minimum of 10 students required to start either time.
(NB: if one time has less than 8 to 10 we will contact you to offer the alternative time).
Options;
Wednesdays 6.30 pm to 8 pm
or
Saturday 2 pm to 4.30 pm
The classes are following a framework to benefit the students learning.
The classes will include;
Class one: Tibetan alphabets with phonetics
Class two: Vowels and formation of composite words
Class three: Three superscripts (Ra-go, La-go, Sa-go)
Class four: Three subscripts (Ya-tak, Ra-tak, La-tak)
Class five: Introducing ten suffix letters
Class six: Introducing five prefix letters and two secondary suffixes
Class seven: Reading composite letters and sentences.
Class eight: Grammar; Noun, pronoun and adjective.
Class nine: Grammar; introducing connective particle La-dhon (La equivalent/ locative/ dative)
Class ten: Grammar; connective particle I-den (Genitive and instrumental particle)
Class eleven: Grammar; connective particle Jung-khung (Ablative)
Class twelve: Tibetan Transliteration of Sanskrit
To truly benefit from each class, we highly encourage study time of minimum one hour, or 10 minutes each day between classes for revision.
For flexibility some classes may take longer or shorter than specified above.
There may be the option to extend the twelve weeks for those that request longer time.
Cost:
To cover the Thinlay's preparation time. class time, materials he requires a cost will be charged to cover these.
All students will receive the study material as a PDF.
