Tīrama Mai Explorer Zone

The annual celebration of Puaka Matariki, Tīrama Mai returns, bringing the light to central Ōtautahi this winter.

With the main Tīrama Mai site at Victoria Square, our Explorer Zone hosts artwork and moving images in partnership with Dark Sky Project.

The film has a duration of around 9 minutes and is on a continuous loop between opening hours.

This event is part of the Matariki celebrations at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre (3 - 20 Hōngongoi July 2023). Celebrate Matariki with talented artists from Ōtautahi and beyond. Experience outstanding performances, an exhibition of Māori visual arts, a stunning Kapa Haha showcase, exciting kid's wānanga (workshops) and a Matariki mākete (market).
