In a cosy and relaxed setting, Ayesha Green (Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Kahungunu) will talk about her works and the personal histories and family stories that have inspired them. The talk will be a survey, looking at different source images, from Benjamin West to family photographs, to explore how together they create a visual language that informs her practice.

This event is part of our Young Members programme, created for the bold and curious under 40s (and young at heart). Light refreshments will be available, including the best non-alcoholic drinks by our YM partner, Almighty. As a Member, you can purchase up to two tickets to this event, so bring a friend! Talk will begin at 7pm.

About Ayesha Green

Ayesha’s painting is characterised by its block colour, flattened. Her subject matter draws from historical events or figures and moments from everyday life. Ayesha gained a Master of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland in 2013 and in 2016 completed a Graduate Diploma in Arts from the University of Auckland. In 2019, she won the National Contemporary Art Awards, was an inaugural recipient of the Springboard Award from the Arts Foundation in 2020, and in 2021 was awarded the Rydal Art Prize, which recognised her contribution to New Zealand painting. The above painting, Two Māori boys in an English field, 2022 was purchased by Auckland Art Gallery last year.
