Botanic Garden ki Paekākā Playground Opening

Double the fun: revamped and ready to play!

This Childrens Day, Wellington City Council are excited to be presenting two free, whānau-friendly events, to celebrate the reopening of the Botanic Garden ki Paekākā play area, and Te Aro Mahana, the exciting new playspace at Frank Kitts Park.

Bring your friends and whānau along to try out the new Botanic Garden ki Paekākā playground and enjoy an exciting line-up of tamariki-friendly activities, kai, and exclusive deals.

The celebrations will feature giant bubbles and chalk art. Once you've worked up an appetite, take advantage of 2-for-1 kids pizza at the Cable Top Eatery or a free kids menu item with the purchase of a main menu item at Picnic Cafe.

Take advantage of free cable car rides all day for tamariki aged 5-15, and head down to the waterfront to try out the Te Aro Mahana play area and explore the new Whetuu Maarama waka. The waterfront celebrations will feature a bike obstacle course, soccer and basketball games, kayaking, plus food, music, and special performances for kids.
