Description
Using the classic rules of proportion you will develop the skills to draw a portrait of a person. There will be steps to follow and many techniques to assist along the way.

Our experienced tutor and artist will demonstrate techniques to “capture a likeness”.

A live model will sit for us and you will apply those techniques to observe carefully and capture proportions and a likeness. Next you will work from photographs and draw the model in various exercises, using pencil and paint. Finally you will paint a portrait in watercolour using all the techniques and new found skills.

Please bring pencils and A4 sketch book to first class, all other art materials included in course fee.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Understand and apply some standard proportions for drawing the human face
- Build an understanding of great portraits and their attributes
- Use watercolour painting techniques to bring form to the portrait
- Complete a finished portrait in watercolour

4 weeks, Wed 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Presented by Charlotte Hird.

Note: Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly. If you need to cancel your registration, here are our terms and conditions: "What You Need to Know".
