Eat My Shorts were formed in 1991 by CHCH Jazz School students as a vehicle to perform outside of their studies. This co-incided with the (re)emergence of the Acid Jazz or Soul Jazz movement, led by guitarist Ronny Jordan and US3. The band soon expanded to a full horn section and vocalist and also picked up on the classic funk repertoire of artists such as James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding. They held residencies at both the Dux De Lux and Bardellis in this time.
Reformed with 2 original members (Jennine Bailey on vocals) for the CHCH Arts Festival the band is looking to get back on the circuit. It has members in common with the All Girl Big Band and Sumo.

This event is part of Off Centre, an arts festival that shows off the best of Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre – eclectic, exuberant, accessible. With around 40 events, the place will be filled with music, comedy, theatre, and vibrant entertainment. One day, two nights, it's all happening on the 8-9 March 2024.
