Mata Kāheru Dig it

Get hands-on at this construction-themed event aimed at our youngest visitors! Mata Kāheru Dig It! will excite and delight with big machinery on-site.

Let your imagination run wild at our building zone or get a little dirty in the giant sand pit.
Young ones are encouraged to get grubby, feel the dirt between their fingers and toes, and explore different materials of the world we live in.

Be at the Construction Zone at Aviation Hall at 11am and 1pm each day for our sandcastle competition or get creative with our Imagination Playground at 12pm and 2pm each day, and be in to win.

Learn how to grow and nurture your own food at the māra kai gardening for food space at the Aviation Hall or in the Village at MOTAT Great North Road. Our mate Doug the Digger will be back so make sure you jump on and have a go on a real excavator.
