Curated by Lorna Rikihana and Sylvia Nelson this exhibition explores the whakataukī, "Ko au te whenua, ko te whenua ko au, I am the earth and the earth is me" Elements of earth, fire, air and water have been moulded by the artists to honour Papatuanuku. "Toitu te Tiriti"

GlazeLab Workshop: Colour Exploration in Midrange Glazes

Led by Karuna Douglas – ceramic artist, Nga Kaihanga Uku Collective

2 day hands-on professional development workshop

Suitable for beginner through to experienced clay practitioners, on Day 1 participants will make glazes from scratch, and then using their test tiles they will create colour line, cross and triaxial blends.

Day 2 consists of a seminar on glaze journaling followed by group analysis of the 100’s of fired tests from Day 1.

What’s included:

Two days of instruction

Handouts

All glaze materials, tools and firing of test tiles

All participants can take wet glazes home for further testing

What YOU are required to bring to class:

50 test tiles - if you don't have these please ring/email Karuna on 022 473 9151 - karuna@maiadesign.co.nz to provide them as soon as possible or at the latest 7 March.
