After touring Europe and Australia in late 2023 , performing live on national French tv music show ‘Taratata’ (that also featured Ed Sheeran) as well as receiving praise in Rolling Stone magazine, Grant Haua is home and ready to showcase at Totara St his new album Mana Blues in what is becoming his now annual local show.

The Grant Haua Explosion….See the former Swamp Thing singer / guitarist and Solo Acoustic Maestro Grant Haua in his final form. With hometown favourite and session player James Bos on drums and Hurricane Elis' ( the glue ) - 2 pie, Brian Franks on bass, a night of acoustic and electric fretwork fireworks out of Te Moana a Toi . A musical triple threat treat that relives the classic power trio’s of yesteryear, think 60’s Cream an EXPLOSION of sonic atomic levels that leads to an ultimate musical frenzy every time .

Journalists have described Swamp Thing 'as a juggernaut of contemporary blues/Americana/Kiwi soul', and word merchants always exaggerate, but as soon as Grant strapped on that electric Tele’ guitar, we all had to buckle in as well as the Explosion Trio ride took on something similar . Absolutely fantastic , and what musicianship from the power-trio that evening - vocals, lead, bass and drums - all melding to create an experience beyond expectation.

These 2024 Aotearoa shows will feature both his solo acoustic work from previous Dixiefrog releases Awa Blues , Tahanga & Ora Blues Live at the Chapel as well as focussing on Mana Blues with his Explosion Trio band.

About the Mana Blues album
“ Those familiar with my music will notice this album is a lot different from previous releases which were written around the acoustic guitar. I often ask myself if it is a mistake to release an electric album (and a pretty heavy one at that) but in the end I thought what the hell you only live once ! “

“Being Generation X these songs are heavily influenced by that period which I consider in pop/rock history, musically arguably the best. I know it will probably be criticized for being too “old fashioned” by some but I can honestly say I’ll take that as a compliment as my musical “D.N.A” is defined by that period in time”.
