For children aged 5 - 8 years.
Join Siu and Leah from Loopy Tunes for a 45-minute workshop. Tamariki will enjoy having a kanikani to some waiata before taking part in a workshop where they will get to decorate their own tī rākau (that they can take home) and will explore using them and poi.

Tamariki will be invited to perform at the Waiata Mai concert with Loopy Tunes, at 2pm in the North Quad.

About Loopy Tunes
Loopy Tunes (Preschool) Music are Christchurch-based sister music duo, Siu Williams-Lemi and Leah Williams-Partington. The sisters are recognised for their reorua/bilingual Māori and Pasifika children’s waiata, sung in their beautifully harmonious style.

They had their start in children’s music through a weekly outreach preschool music programme they helped create, thirteen years ago, which continues still – now running six weekly bilingual music sessions during the school term.

In 2019, the sisters recorded and released their first 13-track children’s music album, “Kākāriki: Simply Us” and to date have released a total of 147 waiata. The releases also include their “Kōwhai: Kōrero Mai” EP, a collaboration with Aotearoa’s most loved Aunty, Suzy Cato, and the team at Ko Taku Reo: Deaf Education NZ, who created some beautiful music videos for the project! “Kōwhai” is a 4-song collection of simple waiata that helps to encourage tamariki to learn Māori in a fun and very interactive way

This event is part of The Arts Centre's School Holiday Fun (13 - 28 April), a lively programme packed full with events to nurture creativity, spark imagination and entertain pre-schoolers through to teens.
