Raggamuffin has announced additions to their lineup for the two-day reggae festival which takes place in Rotorua in January.
Today Raggamuffin organisers announced Common Kings would be joining the line-up, along with New Zealand acts Ardijah, Aotearoa Reggae All Stars, Majic, Lion Rockers Hi-Fi plus the winners of the 2013 Smokefree Pacifica Beats competition, Strangely Arousing.
A strong line-up of DJ acts has also been confirmed for Raggamuffin 2014 including Che Fu, King Kapisi, DJ Sirvere, DJ Poroufessor, DJ Art, DJ Locksteady, Sgt Benji, Ben Sifty Goodness, Deach, DJ Masive, DJ Jayrasik, and DJ Infared.
The new acts join a line up of reggae megastars with headliners Damian Marley (youngest son of legend Bob Marley), Shaggy, Groundation, Rebel Souljahz and, for the first time in New Zealand, Morgan Heritage. Also featuring are three stars from the Marley brothers’ Ghetto Youths International record label, Christopher Ellis, Black Am I and Wayne Marshall.
Formed four years ago at school in Rotorua, Strangely Arousing is a five-piece ska/rock band who were the national winners of the Smokefree Pacifica Beats school band competition this year. As well as a massive prize pack which included recording time at York St studios and having a music video made, the up-and-coming youngsters scored the chance to open the Main Stage at Raggamuffin 2014.
Also announced today was a major prize draw for those who purchase tickets before Christmas Day. The pack, valued at more than $10,000, includes a trip for two (flights, accommodation and VIP passes) to Hawai’i for the Mayjah Rayjah festival in July 2014, an upgrade for Raggamuffin 2014 to House of Marley VIP and an exclusive goodie bag including Raggamuffin merchandise, $1000 of House of Marley products, a gallon of Coruba and Destination Rotorua vouchers.
Raggamuffin 2014 takes place on Friday 31 January and Saturday 1 February 2014 at Rotorua International Stadium and this year, organisers have spread the headline acts across both days.
Raggamuffin 2014 is also supporting the charity Y for Youth, with a donation from every ticket sold going to help support New Zealand youth organisations.
Tickets for Raggamuffin 2014 are available through Ticketmaster and include two-day passes, single day tickets, family passes and group discounts.
