In 2017, join the CSO as the orchestra traverses through some of the best destinations that music has to offer, from Europe to the New World, Beethoven to Bowie, and down a winding trail through our very own backyard to discover the beauties of the South Island.

Celebrate the vast and rich repertoire David Bowie with the orchestra as we are joined on stage by New Zealand’s own rock and pop royalty Jon Toogood, Julia Deans, Ladi6 and Laughton Kora to perform a selection of Bowie’s most famous hits in Leighs Construction CSO Presents: A Symphonic Oddity – the Music of David Bowie.

Or perhaps unwind during a perfect afternoon with music from the world’s most beloved operas and hits from Broadway and the West End, all backed by a full orchestra in the beautiful surrounds of Pegasus Bay Winery in Waipara in PwC Opera at Pegasus Bay.

The popular Artist Series is back for a second year with renowned pianist Michael Houston and cellist Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt leading the orchestra through a plethora of great works by music’s most beloved maestros.

In an unrelenting proclamation for universal freedom and the kinship of humanity, four Christchurch choirs join forces with the CSO and a troupe of internationally acclaimed vocalists for Beethoven’s ninth symphony, Ode to Joy.

Spanning continents and centuries, there’s something for everyone in the CSO’s 2017 season.
