Map showing Dove-Myer Robinson Park

Suitable for Ages

  • Families

Dove-Myer Robinson Park is a festival of colour and scent - some 5000 rose bushes grow there. The park is named after the popular and longest serving mayor who served Auckland for 18 years.

The Dove-Myer Robinson rose gardens showcase new and old rose varieties, many of which have been bred by internationally celebrated rose breeders. The cottage-style Nancy Steen garden offers excellent examples of heritage roses and the 'white garden' is a popular venue for weddings. Click here to view images of the roses in the Nancy Steen gardens on the Rosarosam website.

To enjoy the spectacular blooms at their fullest, visit the rose gardens between October and April.

The park sweeps down to Judges Bay and the salt-water Parnell Baths (open in summer only). Taurarua Pā stands sentinel above, the scene of a great battle between Ngāti Whatua and Te Wai o Hua in mid 17th century. The park is also home to some remarkable native trees - the oldest manuka and the largest pohutukawa tree in Auckland.

You can access the park from Gladstone Road and Judges Bay Road. Parking is available along both streets and in the driveway through the park. There are car parks at Fred Ambler lookout and Judges Bay.
