Downtown Palmerston

Downtown has a mix of local, national and international retailers with a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment choices for everyone.

Downtown was built in the late eighties and first opened in May 1990. The following August, Palmerston North and Downtown saw the opening of the very first cinema multiplex in New Zealand. In 1994 another screen was added followed by an eighth in 1997.

In 2003 Downtown's owners signed off on a multi million dollar refurbishment of the centre which saw the foodcourt expanded and completely rebuilt. More retail shops were created along with a luxury Cinema Gold to cater for the discerning movie patron.

Downtown's mix of retailers, food and entertainment has seen the centre grow over the years to become a “must visit” place when in Palmerston North. A true international offering awaits your visit, which we hope will be a pleasant one.
