Welcome to the Pines Tavern & Banbury Restaurant.
Located just 10 kms north of Westport on the Karamea-Heaphy track Highway (67); we are ideally situated for travellers to explore the Northern Buller. Originally built in 1874 the Pines has been the home of a cold beer and a social gathering place for generations of “Black Gold” miners. A potbelly in the winter and shady decks and Garden bar in summer offer the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. Master Chef and owner Alex also offers a great dining experience in the Banbury Restaurant, serving hearty food far above the usual pub grub standard. As a stopover or as a base for day trips,(Denniston Experience, Stockton Mine tours, Charming Creek Walkway, The Oparara Arches, Limestone Caves, Jet Boating, Rafting the Nile, Fishing, Horse riding: so much to do!)We offer a unique West Coast experience. Come chat with the locals, stay awhile in our guest rooms or park your mobile home in the spacious grounds. We are pet friendly; our two dogs Bonsai & Snake roam the grounds and often hog the pot belly in winter. For an hour, a week, or a month, we hope you’ll come visit us at the historic Pines Tavern. Cheers, Alex & Di.
