From printing presses to classic cars and buggies that once carried affluent New Zealanders around Canterbury and beyond, this museum has everything that opens and shuts.

The Yaldhurst Museum has amassed an eclectic mix of road transport including one of the largest and finest collection of horse drawn vehicles in the country. There is possibly the oldest vehicle in New Zealand, an American buggy of 1810, a unique 1860 Phaeton and an 1866 glass sided hearse said to have carried the body of former Prime Minister, Richard Seddon.

The extensive collection of motor vehicles includes one of the oldest surviving hand fire pumps (1864), a six cylinder Leyland fire engine thought to be the only engine of this model left in the world, a unique International with a coupe body (1938), one of only five manufactured.

Closed Christmas day and all of June.
