The Canberra Times called it 'inspired' and noted it 'engages an audience profoundly'. Sydney Stage described it as ' . . . an uplifting evening of theatre'. Now Stephen McDonald's acclaimed World War One drama NOT ABOUT HEROES comes to Christchurch to coincide with ANZAC Day.

NOT ABOUT HEROES is set in 1917, when two of England's greatest poets met whilst infirmed at Craiglockhart War Hospital. Siegfried Sassoon was a decorated war-hero who had protested against the continuing war, Wilfred Owen was a victim of shell-shock, accused of cowardice, who went on to win a Military Cross, die in the trenches, and receive posthumous fame as the greatest poet of the War. Stephen MacDonald's acclaimed play dramatizes the story of the friendship that transformed them both.

Witty, heartwarming and profoundly moving, this play comes direct from its acclaimed performances at the Australian War Memorial for a strictly limited Christchurch season featuring the original cast of two, Roger Gimblett and Patrick Magee.
