Fancy a walk through the Gardens of Spain?

This concert is a delight for all the senses with picturesque music by De Falla and Debussy, and Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major performed by Christopher Hinterhuber, an outstanding young pianist from Austria.

Gypsy dancing and exotic music feature in many of the works.

A village scene is depicted in De Falla's overture to the opera Life is Short, about a beautiful young gypsy woman who is in love with a young man from a 'higher class' - therefore she may not have him, and the story ends in drama, as most operas do.

Nights in the Gardens of Spain will entice you to visit the beautiful gardens in Spain - you can almost smell the fragrant jasmine and hear the magical fountains!

Ravel's piano concerto is reminiscent of Gershwin's jazzy Rhapsody in Blue, but also has mystical and impressionistic moments that remind of splashes of sound like the splashes and flecks of paint in a Monet painting. Debussy's piece is the same, with effects of rippling water, a marching band and festive dancing.
