See two fabulous Southeast Asian shadow puppetry traditions - puppeteers from Thailand (rarely, if ever, seen in New Zealand) as well as an eighth generation Javanese puppeteer, Ki Joko Susilo, now resident in New Zealand.

The Javanese show is mainly in English and is accompanied by live music from Gamelan Padhang Moncar from the New Zealand School of Music. The Thai puppet show features English narration and is accompanied by drums.

Come and be entranced by this puppetry performance of extraordinary beauty and mystery. Meet the Thai and Javanese puppetry masters and learn the history and culture behind this ancient tradition.

There are three shows, featuring the Thai puppeteers first, followed by the Javanese. The shows begin at 10.30am, 1.00pm and 3.30pm.
