Capital E is thrilled to be a participant in this year’s Fringe Fricnic in Civic Square on Saturday 16 February. Children of all ages and their families will be entertained by helping artist Fifi Colston create a growing piece of public sculpture or by getting up and dancing to the irresistible sounds of Greer Samuel, one of our amazing SoundHouse™ New Zealand Scholarship students, performing on the main stage.

The Fricnic is in Civic Square for the first time this year and we are pleased to welcome the Fringe to our neighbourhood. Activities are programmed from 11am to 3pm, with entertainment on the stage and interactive activities in the Square.

Starting at 11am but continuing throughout the day you will relish the opportunity to contribute to a piece of original art. Come down and let loose your creativity with well known Children's Book writer and illustrator, Wearable Art Designer and The Good Morning Show (TV1) presenter of kids’ arts and crafts, Fifi Colston. She has a passion for creating something from nothing; particularly egg cartons. If you thought they were something to throw away, Fifi will show you otherwise as she creates with the kids of Wellington, a spectacular flowering sculpture. The sculpture will remain on permanent display at Capital E after the event.

Then at 1pm Greer Samuel will take the stage and perform 40 minutes of her original compositions. Currently in her final year at school, Greer has been a Capital E SoundHouse™ Scholarship student since 2003 and released her first CD and DVD at just 13 years of age. Last year Greer played the lead role of 'Gabriella Montez' in Wellington Musical Theatre production of Disney's, High School Musical. Recently she begun recording under the Black Keys Entertainment record label with Wellington hip hop group Beatrootz, writing and recording her own music.

The Fringe Fricnic also includes hip hop performances from Legacy Dance Crew, UK folk duo Katus, Fringe performers Tap That and NZ Idol winner Rosita Vai. With a little something for everyone, this is an afternoon not to be missed!
