Stephanie Louise O'Connor is a photographic artist based in Auckland. Having recently graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts she is currently working commercially in photography and design. She has exhibited in George Fraser gallery and the January 2008 Photoforum members show as well as private viewings for collectors.

She enjoys experimenting with photographic practice and image manipulation as part of the creative process and has a keen interest in creating emotive imagery from amalgams of seemingly disparate objects and ideas.

The Roof
The Roof series stemmed from the fascination and objectification with an episodic series of events playing out on the roof opposite the photographer’s office. The drama of unknown people involved with the restoration of the roof transformed in the artist’s imagination into events at seemingly surreal yet commonplace through post-production.

The Little Guy
The Little Guy images play on our empathy with an inanimate object. He is brought to life through the lens by exploring and entertaining in the desolate landscape. At once both comic and tragic, the viewer cannot help but feel for the stranded figure.

The Hospital
The series of images in The Hospital are a documentation of people's nightmares as relayed to the photographer in a series of interviews she conducted in the course of a research project. Taking similar elements from various stories and interpreting them, she began to concoct a decrepit landscape inspired by people’s nightmarish thoughts.
