After the release and critical acclaim of his sixth solo album Right Now, Nathan and guitarist brother Joel Haines join forces for a night of special new music in an intimate setting at Wellington’s revamped Bar Bodega.

No strangers to collaboration, the pair recorded an album of originals and jazz tunes with the NZSO some four years ago, and the resulting album Life Time hinted at what was to come.

But with Right Now taking a year to record, then the album mix down in London and subsequent touring with his UK band and guest NZ vocalist Tama Waipara last year, there was little time to work on new music.

“From conception to release earlier this year, two years just sort of flew by”, says Nathan.

“Myself and Joel get little time to really get together and write, but we have been working and writing material and have a great new acoustic line-up”.

German born bassist Oliver Holland joins Ron Samsom on drums and uber-keyboardist Kevin Field will be on Fender Rhodes and keyboards.

“Joel has always had a unique guitar based-sound, and we blend together really well because we have spent our lives playing together on lots of different projects.”

“This is the beginning of something new, but we will be playing some material from the Life Time album as well,” says Nathan.

Right Now has been released in Japan, Australia and the UK, and the New Zealand Herald named it “easily his most confident effort yet, boasting one of the most impressive line-ups to ever grace a local release”.
