In June Masterworks Gallery will be holding an exhibition of new work by highly acclaimed glass artist Emma Camden. This will be the first solo exhibition of Camden’s work seen at the gallery since 2002.

Camden immigrated to New Zealand from England in the early 1990s. Since then she has developed a position as one of the country’s leading studio glass artists.

Her distinctive approach and ability to cast large scale, sculptural works makes her a unique and interesting figure within the New Zealand art community. In recent years her reputation has steadily increased both within New Zealand and internationally. Camden has been selected several times by her New York dealer for exhibition at the prestigious SOFA expo (The International Expositions of Sculpture Objects and Functional Art, Chicago and New York), at which she held a sell out show in 2007. Camden has regularly exhibited throughout New Zealand and internationally for the past eighteen years.

Camden’s work is included in a number of significant national and international collections including those of the Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland; Waikato Polytechnic Collection, Hamilton; Wallace Arts Trust, Auckland; National Art Glass Collection, Wagga Wagga, Australia; Dowse Art Museum, Lower Hutt; Ebeltoft Museum, Ebeltoft, Denmark; Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane, Australia; Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington.
