Toi o Manukau Maori Arts and Culture is pleased to present the inaugural Matariki ki Manukau – a time for family and friends to gather together for a deeper experience of Maori culture and to enjoy the special events and activities around Manukau City.

"When we look up at the stars and constellations, we feel the immenseness of the universe. When we celebrate Matariki, we feel ourselves standing at the centre of time, like a point of transition between the ancient and contemporary worlds."

Experience the creativity that is inspired by our traditions and discover our 2008 programme of exhibitions, storytelling and performances in a sharing of culture, knowledge and the arts.

Matariki ki Manukau includes:

- Nga Toi, contemporary visual arts
- Whakaari, a season of performances
- Hakari, a gathering time for whanau (families) and the sharing of food
- He Kahui Whetu, presented by Manukau Libraries

A few events are ticketed, however most events are free.

Matariki ki Manukau events are also featured as part of the Auckland regional Matariki Festival.

Matariki ki Manukau is presented by Toi o Manukau with funding from ASB Community Trust. Toi o Manukau acknowledges the support of Manukau City Council.
