"Education . . . must speak to the child's experience. To educate the whole child, the heart and the will must be reached as well as the mind." - Rudolf Steiner

Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School aims to meets the challenges of an ever-changing world by providing a holistic education, in a safe, nurturing and beautiful environment.

It strives to preserve the wonder of childhood and is dedicated to unfolding of individual potential within a spirit of community.

Based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, it allows the healthy development of the whole child balanced in body, soul, and spirit.

It supports each childhood development phase with appropriate academic, artistic, physical, and social activities that inspire the child’s imagination, natural curiosity and love of learning and that lead to a balanced education; having clear, creative and flexible thinking, compassion for others, moral integrity and the courage to not only meet the future, but play a part in shaping it.

The school is co-educational, non-denominational and independent.

To support the educational philosophy we offer a broad, balanced curriculum.

At the heart are the Main Lessons that follow the path of human development, mirroring the child’s development, from mythical to modern times.

They encompass Maths, English, Science, Music and Movement, presented in an imaginative way that fills the child with wonder and enthusiasm.

We have specialist and visiting teachers in Handwork, Music, Eurythmy, German, Te Reo Maori, Gardening, Speech, Bothmer Gymnastics and for older classes, Circus Skills and Classical languages.

Each subject serves a deeper educational aim eg. Handwork, whether with wool, thread, wood or clay, pupils develop manual dexterity, patience, coordination, skill and sense for aesthetic qualities.

Music, from singing to playing an instrument, enriches the soul, helps experience feelings and thoughts in deeper ways, and practice strengthens the will.

The school is a safe, peaceful and natural learning environment situated on over 100 acres, embraced by regenerating bush bordering the Manukau Harbour, yet only minutes from vibrant Titirangi village.

A unique wetland/pond area and orchard are home to native wildlife.
