2008 marks FUEL Festival’s 10th Anniversary. FUEL showcases the ingenuity, inspiration and diversity of Kiwi theatre.

Since it first opened in 1998, FUEL has grown exponentially and the biennial festival has become Hamilton’s largest cultural event. The festival is dedicated to presenting a programme of events that showcases the strength and originality of New Zealand theatre.

Showcasing kiwi actors, playwrights and their works are FUEL’s main objectives. By using the FUEL Festival as a springboard companies such as Indian Ink Theatre, Stampede, Taki Rua, Mau Dance Company and the NZ Actors Company have all found their feet in Hamilton.

Audiences have come in their droves, enthusiastic and hungry for this exhibition of top class performances which always includes a number of world premieres by New Zealand’s leading theatre companies. The event continues to grow and in 2006 the festival included a sold out FUEL 4 YOUTH programme which has now been expanded to offer young people more opportunities to see some of the exceptional productions on offer.

2008 is set to Ignite, Excite and Explode our taste buds with what is world class kiwi theatre.
