The Milton Utility Poultry Club will hold its SUPER Annual Show at the Milton Town Hall.

Schedules are not available yet, but email the Waters family at the email contact to have one sent on.

This is going to be a SUPER SHOW because it is in the friendly town of Milton, south of Dunedin.

The Secretary, Supergran Isobel Robinson always has her birthday coinciding with the show so there is a great atmosphere. It is a family affair with the Carr and Low families staunch members and supporters.

Exhibitors come from around the South Island to compete for New Zealand and South Island Championships.

There is great rivalry between clubs for the lovely shields they had donated by the late Mr McClechlan. A very strong field of Old English Game Spangle is benched and fiercely competed for with the extant four years running Spangleking Peter Robb of the Dunedin Club, being ousted by Balclutha’s Neville Ross and Dunedin City Council Environmental Officers.

All the big Poultry Boys are there too, trying to get points and prizes for the macro-bigger picture. Terrific raffles available, refreshments, and bargains…in the birds for sale sections. Some lovely birds come up from Invercargill from Robbie Wilson, who is a regular supporter of the show circuit.

The Cardno family of Ocean View and the Taieri Club boost the show entries significantly with a high standard of purebred birds. Little pekin bantams are popular down there along with many other breeds. Old breeds like the Dorking come from J. Sinclair's Isla bank property Invercargill and the Wood family at Broadbay, Dunedin.

The Milton area is primarily a utilitary poultry area with a lot of battery operations still producing eggs for the local and wider market. There are many things to see and do while in Milton.

Excellent Fish and Chips at the seven days store near the kink. Don’t forget the motion picture GOODBYE PORKPIE HOUSE on the Northern outskirts of Milton. A scene was shot where the little yellow mini stopped and the lead character got out and went into the small cottage by the roadside. There is no sign to mark it. The former white cottage was recently repainted a greeny colour.

So if you passing through or visiting your colleagues in the MILTON HILTON drop into the Poultry Show. You will be pleased you did.
