The working class man takes it back to where it all began.

If there’s one thing that defines Jimmy Barnes, one of Australasia’s most successful and enduring rock performers, it’s his status as a man of the people. Now, he’s taking his show back to where it counts – to the people, up close and personal, on a New Zealand visit which sees him return to the kind of smaller venues which allow his grass-roots rock and soul to be experienced in the way it should be. No frills or distractions, and the audience and performer there for exactly the same reasons.

The former Cold Chisel frontman and successful solo artist has undergone some life changes in the past couple of years which has seen his focus return to the heart of what is important. Jimmy’s lust for life is now 100% about music, and backed by a kick-ass band, his current shows cover a wide range of classic material, all delivered in the classic Barnes-style. His tireless energy for performance has demonstrated he is hitting a new career high; while musically, he has returned to the origins of Cold Chisel and the kind of rootsy, direct, soulful rock n roll which speaks to everyone.

Jimmy Barnes’ career as a solo performer and with Cold Chisel has made him one of the most popular and best-selling Australian music artists of all time, with the highest number of hit albums of any Australian artist. Along with his popularity with the public, he is held in high regard by his fellow artists, and has recorded with INXS, John Farnham, members of Midnight Oil, Deep Purple, You Am I, and Uriah Heep. His latest album, Out In The Blue, includes a song, ‘Blue Hotel’, written for him by Neil Finn; and a duet with Kasey Chambers.

But it’s with the people where Jimmy belongs, playing the kind of music that connects to his audience in the kind of environment which suits it best. There are very few chances to see a performer of Jimmy’s stature in the sort of venues he will be visiting in March – and undoubtedly, this will make for some very special shows.
