The Greater Auckland Chorus are proud to host The Yale Spizzwinks (?) next month when they visit New Zealand as part of their sell-out world tour.

The current 16-member male ensemble, made up entirely of Yale University undergraduates, have been touring the globe, wowing audiences with their unique mix of perfect harmony, infectious enthusiasm and timeless wit.

The original Spizzwinks (?) were formed in 1914 as an alternative to the Yale Wiffenpoofs who wore white tie, tails and gloves. But now “The Gloves Are Off” which just so happens to be the name of one of their CDs. Their repertoire is vast and ranges from jazz standards to pop and rock music, as well as folk ballads. They have recently been viewed on YouTube singing “Accidentally in Love” which became a hit with the Shrek movies and Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved”, giving both of these chart hits their own inimitable stamp and polish. Whilst in Auckland, the singers will be helping to coach would-be barbershoppers at the Young Singers in Harmony workshop at Carmel College, Milford, on Sunday March 16th. See their website: www.spizzwinks.com.

The Greater Auckland Chorus are no strangers to the international stage themselves. Four times champion womens’ barbershop singers, they represented New Zealand for the fifth time in October last year.
