It’s time to kick off your work shoes and don your favourite pair of jandals in the name of the Jafa and Jandals Fest 2008.

The third annual Jafa and Jandals Fest is gearing up for another fun-filled celebration of Auckland’s best-kept secret - Kumeu.

Highlights of the two-week Fest include the popular Jandal art exhibition, a beach dig at Muriwai, and a “Thong and Dance”. Cafés, restaurants and businesses in the area will also be getting involved in the fun, offering Festival specials and discounts.

The official opening on Thursday 13 March will be held at Bees Online, with a fun line up of activities including an art display by local students, official opening of the Jandal art exhibition, children’s activities, spot prizes and the highly anticipated Giant Jaffa Roll.

Why Jafa and Jandals?
Jafas (Just Another Friendly Aucklander) conveys the fun and down-to-earth approach Kumeu Coast and Country residents have, while Jandals represent the area’s laidback Kiwi lifestyle.

Where is Kumeu?
Based in North West Auckland, Kumeu Coast and Country encompasses the area stretching from the cliffs overlooking Muriwai and the Gannet Colony, north to Woodhill Forest, Waimauku, Coatesville, historic Riverhead, Taupaki, Huapai and of course Kumeu.

Everyone is welcome to join in, explore and celebrate this unique and vibrant community, which boasts stunning beaches, award-winning wineries, delicious eateries, beautiful scenery, historic museums and successful businesses, all just a twenty-five minute drive from Auckland city.
