Join the Russell locals for the day to celebrate the Anniversary of the Battle of Kororareka 1845.

The Kororareka Festival is a unique event in the Bay of Islands based on the Commemoration of the Battle of Kororareka 1845.

“The festival, organised by the Kororareka Marae Society, is growing and improving each year adding new attractions, stalls and entertainment.. By promoting Kororareka, we promote Maori and the unique history of this area, and we open bridges to surrounding areas like Karetu, Rawhiti, and Waikare”, says Kerry Wynyard, festival organiser.

Throughout the day local teenagers will be sharing some of the town’s rich history including how our streets and other significant locations within Kororareka were named.

Maori Television presenter Te Arahi Maipi, who fronts the NZ breakers coverage, will MC the festival and he’s keen to compete in the fishing competition which is FREE to enter for ALL children.

Then meet at "The Pub 'round the Corner for an evening of great music and dancing with "RSB". Tickets are limited, so be sure to get yours early.
