Food for thought. Michael Pollan’s hugely influential bestseller “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” traced a direct line between the industrialisation of food and degradation of the environment, and asked searching questions about the value of organics. “In Defence of Food” cuts straight to the chase with a maxim that is deceptively simple: “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.”

"A notably unhealthy preoccupation with nutrition and diet and the idea of eating healthily” is but one of his provocative statements. Settle back and enjoy the slaughter of sacred cows, including the idea that dietary fat leads to chronic illness.
