By his own admission, Peter Temple became a crime writer because he was suffering from “undiagnosed boredom”. Australia’s most acclaimed crime and thriller writer has kept himself and his many readers entertained since 1996 when he published the first of eight novels.

The only writer to have won the coveted Ned Kelly Award five times, Temple’s most recent novel, “The Broken Shore”, was long-listed for the 2006 Miles Franklin Award, and won the biggest crime writing prize in the world, the 2007 Duncan Lawrie Dagger Award. Temple’s work is admired not only for plot and character, but also for its wit and gritty realism.

Chair: Iain Sharp.
