This is Michel Birot's third exhibition that is presented exclusively by Creative Exposure, Auckland City Council and Photo4 Paris in Auckland Town Hall.

As part of the tradition of rivalry between great rugby nations, and the build-up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup we see the merging of art and sport through Birot's emotive black and white work capturing the passion of rugby.

Born in 1953 at Auriac, Michel Birot has lived and worked in Paris since 1974.

He started his career as a professional photographer with Le Figaro magazine and followed on by working in fashion and in advertising.

He has been photographing rugby in black and white for more than a decade and is today Editor-in-Chief of the monthly magazine Attitude Rugby.

Amongst his recent exhibitions are: PHOTO4 Gallery (Paris), Snapshots, 2007 (p); Géo-Charles Museum (Echirolles), XV, 2007 (c); LWS Gallery (Paris), Fragments of an Epoch, 2006 (p); LWS Gallery (Paris), In the scrum, 2005 (p).

Michel Birot will be doing a talk / workshop in Auckland Town Hall, between 29 May and 1 June, dates and times to be confirmed.
