TIGILAU NESS is one of the founding fathers of roots reggae in Aotearoa. He started singing roots reggae in the mid 1970's with I - Unity. He helped found Twelve Tribes of Israel in New Zealand in the early 1980's and played in the house band as well as touring with his own band Second Power. He reformed Unity in 1992, which then became UNITY PACIFIC in 2001.

UNITY PACIFIC celebrates the cultural heritage of all its members; Niuean, Cook Islands, European, Maori and Samoan. Unity Pacific are not to be missed live - they combine stripped back dread roots with wonderful improvisation and a venue full of good vibes every time they play.

They have released two critically acclaimed albums. "FROM STREET TO SKY" (2003) is a potent political retrospective through which Tigi tells his story as a first generation Niuean New Zealander who fought successfully with many others to bring about a paradigm shift in race relations in 1970s and 1980s New Zealand."INTO THE DREAD" (2007) celebrates the faith and unity of the band. It was recorded over four magical nights of full band live takes at York Street studios. The stand out features of the album are the soulful vibe and the dread improvisation.
