Take a legendary Kiwi singer-songwriter and mix with a legendary Auckland orchestra and you have . . . a slice of heaven!

Iconic New Zealand singer Dave Dobbyn reunites with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra for a very special concert, performing the timeless classics that defined a generation, along with fresh songs from his critically acclaimed new album, “Anotherland”, plus performances with his six-piece band.

Vero presents Dave Dobbyn and the APO at the Aotea Centre, THE EDGE® for one night only on Sunday 16 November. Featuring the hits, Whaling, Be Mine Tonight, Slice of Heaven, Loyal and more in captivating symphonic sound, with arrangements by Tom Rainey for full orchestra and six-piece band.

Dave Dobbyn has been at the forefront of New Zealand music since the early 80’s when he was the frontman for the hugely successful DD Smash. His latest album “Anotherland” features his trademark songwriting abilities mixed with a blues/gospel influence and, on launching, entered the NZ album charts at number two. Songs from the album will feature in the APO concert.

“We’re very excited to be reuniting with Dave Dobbyn,” says APO Chief Executive Barbara Glaser. “He is one of New Zealand’s most loved singers and we’re looking forward to performing with him and his band, playing old favourites and songs from his new album.”

Dave Dobbyn’s last outing with the APO was sold out, and this special one-night-only concert follows the orchestra’s string of acclaimed collaborations with contemporary acts including Little Bushman and Shapeshifter.

Fans of homegrown music won’t want to miss this special opportunity to hear some of New Zealand’s most iconic songs, performed by the master with the city’s biggest band, live at the Aotea Centre, THE EDGE® on Sunday 16 November.
