Haumoana school has been holding its annual market day on the first Sunday of November for the last 11 years. It is now one of the largest specialist Arts and Craft events in the Hawke's Bay.

In 2007, over 200 stallholders attended and it was estimated that up to 20,000 people attended the five-hour event. As well as stallholders from throughout the Hawke's Bay, artisans and craftspeople from as far afield as New Plymouth, Auckland, Waikato, Wairarapa, and Wellington exhibit.

The range of arts and crafts stalls is many and varied - from furniture, clothing, homeware, sculpture, jewellery, garden ornaments and naturally all types of food.

There are also pony rides, mini jeeps, bouncy castles and other entertainment for all ages. There is a great atmosphere of bonhomie created on the day.

Napier Boys high school's pipe band plays through the streets of Haumoana to mark the opening of the day and local musicians and the school's own choir performs with other lead acts.

At approximately midday there is a giant wine and art auction with donating artist selling their work in a specialised art tent. The market is professionally run and has been acknowledged by the winning of the Hawke's Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Special Event award in both 2000 and 2007. The rained off day, will be Sunday 9 November.
