“An all-American original who reinvents pop craft”” John Payne, LA Weekly

“Snail outdoes the classics and becomes a classic herself” Piero Scaruffi, The History of Rock Music

“The absolute queen of hypnotic, otherworldly benevolence . . . one of our most undervalued treasures” Joe S. Harrington, MAGNET

Azalia Snail has recorded 11 critically-acclaimed albums, gaining recognition as a pioneering force in the underground "lo-fi" movement of the 1990's.

Many influential labels have released her music, including Sub Pop and Dark Beloved Cloud, who launched their label with a split 7” by Azalia and SEBADOH. She also filmed and assembled Super-8 films as backdrop to live performances.

In 1996, she was commissioned by MTV to score the music for the program "Ain't Nuthin' But A She Thing". She has also composed music for several indie features and short films. She has toured consistently throughout the USA and Europe with such acts as LOW, SEBADOH, THE BLACK HEART PROCESSION, SPORTSGUITAR, and ILLYAH KURYAHKIN. Powertool Records is releasing a double CD retrospective entitled 'Petal Metal' to coincide with the NZ tour.

Sandra Bell well known in Dunedin and the American College Radio scene for her brand of rollicking dark indie rock music. Sandra's 4th album White Nights written mostly in Berlin where she lived from 2001-2006 is due out through Powertool Records on 1 September.

On her move South she teamed up with Peter Jefferies (This Kind of Punishment) who produced her first solo album Dreams of Falling. Released by the legendary label Xpressway in New Zealand in '92 and on a Belguim label worldwide.

This brought her international recognition in the Indie music scene, leading to a tour of the US with Peter Jefferies and Alaster Galbraith in '94. In '95 she released Net on the Dunedin label IMD, which also met with critical acclaim.
