The Woolshed Sessions announce a second show at the Underground Wine Cellar at Black Barn Vineyards in Hawke's Bay.

With the first show sold out, the sing-along Wellington super-group are now booked to play a matinee show on Sunday 26 April

Expect lashings of lap-steel guitar, lush vocal harmony sing-a-longs and banjo punctuations when The Woolshed Sessions play at The Underground Wine Cellar, Black Barn Vineyards.

The band that grew from a jam in a Takaka woolshed features some of Wellington’s finest musicians - Age Pryor, Jess Chambers, Justin 'Firefly' Clarke, Andy Hummel, Peter Hill, Brett Skinner, Al Fraser and Dr Lee Prebble – with musical connections to Fly My Pretties, The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra and The Black Seeds.

The collective originated from a week of jamming and recording in a Takaka woolshed then owned by film-maker Gaylene Preston. The low-fi recordings captured the ambient resonance of the space the music was created in – a converted woolshed with bare timber floors, lined with plywood and clad in corrugated iron – and the rest is history.

‘You can hear the landscape in these songs. The balmy simple Golden Bay surface flows over dark secret underground caves. Life is sweet with unfathomable darkness lurking. Strings summer strumming with plenty on our minds.’ Gaylene Preston, film maker, owner of the Takaka woolshed

"A laid-back delight... It's simple, elegant and heartfelt music, with gorgeous harmonies icing an already irresistible cake." Grant Smithies, Sunday Star Times

"Timeless... pure... as simple and as beautiful as our landscapes" - Vicki Anderson, The Press

"From the awesome guitar riffs to the instantly catchy lyrics this haunting and melodic album gets better every time I listen to it" - Simon Pearse, Central Hawkes Bay Mail

“Typical of the New Zealand psyche of course, there is never simply a sunny day without some darkness creeping in, so too some of the songs have lyrics which belie their surface sprightliness” – Graham Reid,
"They have captured this place, holding it spinning in their senses and allowing it to burst forth as music" – Barbara Stowe, The Nelson Mail

"A night of high quality elegant music, gorgeous harmonies and wonderful humour and banter" - Annabel Norman, Nelson Arts Festival
