The Jacobien Jazz Ensemble
Woollaston Estates is pleased to announce the return of the Jacobien Jazz Ensemble to the “Jazz in the Vineyard” concert series this April 5th. Inspired by such great female jazz vocalists as Julie London, Blossom Dearie and Carole King, Jacobien Van Dijk, (aka Jackie) is back as one of the region’s top vocalists. Jackie began her career as a gospel singer in church choirs from a young age and has built up a repertoire of beautiful songs. Jackie’s voice is superb and enriches both traditional and new tunes from the jazz and pop spectrum.

Jackie’s jazz ensemble, consists of professional lineup of talented musicians . . .

Barry Korcheski – Piano
Barry has performed internationally throughout North America, Australia and New Zealand. He has performed professional at five restaurants and theaters in cities from Vancouver to Dallas. He performs regularly on Princess Cruises including the original “Love Boat”. His versatility covers a wide range of music styles from jazz and musicals to romantic dinner music, Latin, pop, rock and country music. He is also an accomplished Hammond organ player and enjoys performing at jazz festivals and community festivals.

Steve Hainstock - Double bass
Steve is an accomplished bassist who has performed with the Nelson, Christchurch and Invercargill symphony orchestras. He has played in a number theatre shows including Les Miserables and South Pacific. He has also played with the Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra and at South Island Jazz Summer School. He has jammed with international artists such as Maynard Ferguson, Cleo Laine and Rodger Fox. He currently performs with the Hammond Eggs organ combo and the Moonlighters Jazz Quartet. Steve is an excellent studio musician and a great musical addition to the Nelson region.
