Satisfy your artistic hunger

Next Thursday Parnell galleries will again serve up their tempting smorgasbord of New Zealand art and live music - the perfect entrée to a memorable evening at one of Parnell’s great restaurants.

Galleries are open late for you to sip wine and take your time perusing Parnell’s contemporary, traditional and cutting edge array of fine art. This sociable event centres on the cluster of galleries located in the middle of Parnell Road: Aesthete Gallery, ARTIS Gallery, essenze, Mana Gallery, International Art Centre, Jonathan Grant Galleries, Pankhurst Studio Gallery, Parnell Gallery and Sanderson Contemporary Art, with Bath Street and Warwick Henderson Galleries also taking part and all open for viewing until 7.30pm.

Tasty bites
This month we feature exciting Christmas shows leading into Summer catalogues with unique pieces from many of your favourites… Aesthete Gallery feature Alan Taylor, Ian Kingston and sculptor Bay Riddell; ARTIS exhibits John Edgar and George Baloghy to name a few in its Christmas Group Show; Warwick Henderson’s wonderful works include Charles Blomfield, Alice Whtye, an extremely rare Trevor Moffitt, and a magnificent example of the important “Motorway” Series by Robert Ellis; International Art Centre features over 70 new works by represented artists including Patricia Payne, Tracey Ellerton, Donna Demente; and Jonathan Grant Galleries’ Summer Exhibition presents Sir Peter Siddell, Peter Beadle, and John Yardly RI.

Who’s cooking?
Well known artist and teacher Lance O'Gorman will set up easel and continue his latest creation at International Art Centre; Peter Panyoczki will lead an open discussion on “Art and the Creative Process” at Bath Gallery; Sanderson Contemporary Art launches another “outer edge project,” with artist Justin Jade Morgan on site; it’s a VIP evening for essenze with discounts offered to regulars and glass blower, Katie Brown, showcasing her newest work; finally, don’t miss Parnell Gallery’s hugely popular “200mm x 200mm for $200” event – works on paper by gallery artists. And back by popular demand outside International Gallery is jazz singer and violinist duo, Moonlighters to add a little bounce to your step. It’s the last chance to savour this tasty morsel in 2009, so add Late Night Art Parnell to your social calendar now – Thursday, 10 December – Parnell!
